Neil heads the Asian Infrastructure advisory team and has the responsibility of growing the Macquarie Infrastructure franchise across Asia. Neil is also head of the Macquarie Singapore office. Neil’s prime responsibilities include building and managing the Macquarie Infrastructure team across Asia; sourcing Infrastructure transactions both from a principal and advisory perspective, advising Macquarie funds on acquisitions, refinancing or restructurings, leading principal transactions on behalf of Macquarie and evaluating the option of setting up new funds.
From Jan 1998 – April 2006, Neil served as the Executive Director, Head of Social & Public Infrastructure, Europe. Neil was responsible for providing PPP/PFI advice on many significant transactions including the following projects: Edinburgh Schools (£120m), Bassetlaw Schools (£120m), Birmingham Schools (£60m), Oldham Schools (£60m), North Swindon Schools (£90m), Newham & Enfield Schools (£60m), Highlands School (£20m), Kirklees Schools (£60m), Metropolitan Police Firearms London (£50 million), Metropolitan Police Stations (£105 million), Manchester Police Stations (£100 million), Northwood MOD HQ (£250 million); Defence Aviation Repair Agency (£100 million), Central Middlesex Hospital (£90m), Newham General Hospital (£45m), North Middlesex Hospital (£120m), and Newcastle Hospital (£330m). He also provided advice to the public and private sectors on commercial issues; developed financing strategies for project financing transactions; ran funding competitions across institutions and products; developed bid and negotiation strategies for infrastructure projects; negotiated and advised on funding related issues arising from project documentation; project managed transactions through to financial close; and developed and analysed financial models.
Neil joined Macquarie in January 1998, prior to which he was a consultant for an international firm of Actuaries and Management Consultants, Towers Perrin. Neil joined the London Macquarie team in its infancy and helped grow the business significantly over 8 years. During that time he gained a wide variety of Infrastructure PPP and international project finance experience leading and working on a number of projects, with a focus on the social infrastructure sector. For the past 5 years, prior to relocating to Singapore, Neil was head of the Social and Public Infrastructure team, the largest team in the London office which Neil developed from scratch to a team of 30 professionals.
Neil is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries UK (FIA) and graduated with a BSC in Actuarial Science (First Class Hons) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
