Mark heads Macquarie’s Equity Capital Markets business in Asia (including Japan and India). He manages a team of 40 executives across Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Mumbai, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
In 2008, Mark’s team is ranked number one in IPOs in Asia (ex-Japan). They have jointly led three of the five largest IPOs in Asia in 2008: China Railway Construction Corporation (US$2.8 billion); China Southern Railway (US$600m); and Shandong Chenming Paper (US$411m). They have also led a number of secondary issues for clients such as Beijing Enterprises, Straits Asia Resources, Hynix, Olam and Mapletree Logistics
Mark has 20 years of corporate finance experience including 15 years with Macquarie in Singapore and Sydney and 5 years with KPMG Corporate Finance in Sydney and London. While at Macquarie, Mark has worked in Corporate Finance, Equity Capital Markets and Equity Syndication. Immediately prior to his current role he was responsible for Small Cap Equity Syndication in Australia and New Zealand. During his nine years in ECM in Australia, Macquarie became the top ranked ECM team in the country.
Mark has led or played a senior role on over 70 equity raisings, raising over US$20b including many multi-billion dollar deals for clients such as Qantas, Caltex, Lihir Gold, Yahoo, ICI, Boart Longyear, Seek, Goodman, Austereo, Royal & Sun Alliance and many Macquarie Group companies. He was heavily involved in the development of the accelerated rights issue having led the first ever renounceable issue and New Zealand’s first issue. He also led the largest IPOs in Australia in 2001, 2003 and 2007 and led raisings which won “Deal of the Year” awards in 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
Mark is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants (Australia) and graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Economics.
