Ben Davey joined Rothschild 8 years ago having spent 6 years as a Chancery barrister specialising in banking, trust and insolvency law. Ben is a Managing Director and is Co-Head of the UK Financial Institutions Group.
Ben was an advisor to various governments, including the Government of Hungary on its communication strategy for international investor road shows, the Government of Denmark on the design, structuring and implementation of its €13.6bn bank recapitalisation scheme, and also its individual recapitalisation of 10 Danish banks including Danske Bank, DLR Kredit and Realkredit Denmark. He also provided insights to the Government of Dubai in relation to the design, structuring and establishment of its $20bn Financial Support Fund and to the Government of Sweden in relation to its 19.9% stake in Nordea and participation in its €2.5bn rights issue. He is currently the retained adviser to the London Metal Exchange.
Additionally, Ben also played important roles in major transactions by advising on the structuring and sale of Lehman Brothers Asia’s entire Asian operations to Nomura, ABN AMRO on its €71 billion sale to RFS Holdings BV, Kensington Group plc on its £262m sale to Investec, Songbird Acquisition Limited on its £4.7bn acquisition of Canary Wharf and Cinven on its £455m acquisition of Fitness First. Other organisations which he was advisor for includes Alliance & Leicester, Cheshire Building Society, Rabobank, AXA and Permira and Bridgepoint.
